In what follows I am trying to be explicit about important matters usually kept tacit. My reason is that many academics might not have been informally mentored/informed yet about these
tacit, but customary practices.
I am not endorsing these practices; I am describing very established practices. Begin by observing the local versions of these practices in your own research subfield.
